Mahavatar Babaji (Sri Guru Babaji)
(Mahavatar Babaji - a
drawing from Autobiography of a Yogi, commissioned by Yogananda and
based on his own meeting with Babaji)
Mahavathar Babaji, the Immortal himalayan master who
developed kriya yoga, babaji is said to be about 1,800 years
old but still stays youthfully in his physical body. It is said that the deathless Guru
bears no mark of age on his body; he appears to be a youth of not more than
twenty-five. Fair-skinned, of medium build and height, his beautiful, strong
body radiates a perceptible glow. His eyes are dark, calm, and tender; his long
lustrous hair is copper-coloured. This is the simple description one could
begin with about living Mahavatar Sri Babaji.
In
the writings of Paramahansa Yogananda in his Autobiography of a Yogi,
Lahiri Mahasaya and Yukteshwar there were many references made about Mahavatar
Babaji. There were many many great saints who had written or mentioned Babaji.
Babaji is referred to an as maha avatar, meaning no birth nor death can ever be
attributed to him. Paramahansa
Yogananda, Lahiri Mahasaya, Yukteswar Giri nor other direct disciples of Babaji
ever mentioned nor attempted to explore Babaji's birth history. Kriya Yoga
